ABOVE: A rare photo of 60's Burn Out Blade in confinement at the Folsom State Prison. Guards supplied the legendary "Flower Freaks" bassist with beer and pot, while additionally allowing him to wear street clothes in exchange for autographs. This snap shot was sold to Rollling Stone magazine in 1986 for $5,000 by a guard. It gives a glimpse as to what it must have been like to go from luxury, limousines, and stardom to the rags of incarceration. Blade was sentenced to prison after he force fed a fatal dose of LSD to a thief who tried to steal hubcaps off of his prized VW Van. At trial a "self defense" plea did not fit with a mostly drug free jury, and Blade was subsequently convicted to serve 8 years. Blade served 4 years until his escape in 1988. Blade has since stayed one step ahead of the law by living transient, and earning money as a pyromaniac street performer.
